Torino has been awarded the title of European Capital of Sport for 2015, as excellence in the European sporting scene. It was here that the first sports groups and the first national federations of disciplines such as football, fencing, shooting, cycling, skating, ice hockey and rowing were born.
Torino, a city of sport, has been and continues to be the venue for major international events such as the 2006 Winter Olympics, the 1990 Football World Cup and recently the Nitto ATP Tennis Finals.
