MUSIC & SHOWS
Listening to Ton Koopman talk about Bach’s music, it is hard not to be infected by the enthusiasm of a master who has forged his performing style on the philological practice of the Baroque repertoire.
It is impossible not to be enchanted when he conducts this music from the podium of the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, which he founded in 1979 to explore that era with the most precious ancient instruments in Europe.
In his dual role as conductor and harpsichordist, almost twenty years after his last performance in the Lingotto Auditorium, Koopman celebrates his eightieth birthday with the complete cycle of Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos: a treasure trove of ancient treasures over three centuries old that still have so much to tell today’s listeners.
