A private collection of the highest quality resulting from the discreet and reserved life of Francesco Federico Cerruti (Genoa, 1922 - Turin, 2015), an entrepreneur who passed away in 2015 at the age of 93.
Almost three hundred sculptural and pictorial works ranging from the Middle Ages to the contemporary, with ancient books, bookbinders, gold backgrounds, and more than three hundred pieces of furniture and furnishings including carpets and writing desks by famous cabinet makers. Masterpieces ranging from works by Sassetta, Bernardo Daddi and Pontormo to those by Renoir, Modigliani, Kandinsky, Klee, Boccioni, Balla and Magritte, to reach those by Bacon, Burri, Warhol, De Dominicis and Paolini.
Added to more than three hundred paintings and sculptures ranging from the Middle Ages to the contemporary, there are about two hundred rare and ancient books with precious bindings and more than three hundred furnishings, including antique carpets and writing desks of famous cabinet makers.
The collection of Francesco Federico Cerruti, kept and hidden in a villa in Rivoli near the Rivoli Castle Museum of Contemporary Art, represents a unicum in the history of Italian private collecting because of its vastness and importance, and makes the Turin entrepreneur of Genoese origins one of the most important European collectors of the late 20th and early 21st century.
