Castle
With its typical medieval structure, it emerges from the greenery of a magnificent centuries-old park enclosed by ancient walls. Built in the 14th century by Philip Savoy-Acaja as a defensive fort, it passed to Philip Solaro in 1396, who then becomes Count of Macello and passes the fiefdom to his descendants.
The castle has a square keep with four turrets. Going past the traces of the old moat and drawbridge, you then access the inner court and salons, where valuable terracotta decorations and frescoed ceilings can be admired. Worthy of note are the “Collection of humble toys and games”, the cellars where the PDO Toma Piemontese matures and the six sundials, two of which are highly unusual as they show different “time zones”.
